The extreme and mysterious landscape at the southernmost tip of Africa has been the inspiration for the Ghost Corner wines. More than 130 ships have found their last resting place in these treacherous waters where compass readings show no deviation between magnetic and true north and navigation was just about impossible on dark and stormy nights.
Inland from this dramatic coastline, in the Elim Ward, lie the vineyards where David is making the most of the excellent growing conditions, cooling southeasterly breezes and extreme climate. The deep lime-rich soil with plentiful slate and gravel deposits give rise to the exceptional Ghost Corner wines – Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and The Bowline. A range of wines that linger on the palate, evoking a sense of mysteries past.
Wines on offer:

Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc
A unique Sauvignon blanc that cannot be compared to any other. Powerful concentrated layers of green figs and gooseberries, with a touch of grapefruit, fynbos and a steely minerality on the palate. A reflection of the cool climate terroir of Elim where the grapes are sourced. Lees contact during the winemaking process creates length and richness on the aftertaste, which will progress even more over the next 2 or 3 years.
Ghost Corner the Bowline
Sailors call the bowline the ‘king of knots’- a strong simple knot that symbolises union, completion and eternal devotion. This white blend ‘ties the knot’ between Sauvignon blanc and Semillon.
Ghost Corner Pinot Noir
A beautifully crafted Pinot noir with prominent red fruit of ripe cherries and sweet raspberries with an undertone of earthy, mushroom nuances. A silky palate with berries and delicate oak components following through.
Cederberg Ghost Corner Semillion
A beautifully crafted Pinot noir with prominent red fruit of ripe cherries and sweet raspberries with an undertone of earthy, mushroom nuances. A silky palate with berries and delicate oak components following through.
Cederberg Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc
The Ghost Corner range is inspired by the extreme coastal area around Cape Agulhas near Elim, known as ‘Spookdraai’ where many ships have been wrecked. These wines are as intriguing and extreme as the story of their origin at the southernmost tip of the Cape winelands. A naturally fermented Sauvignon blanc.
