The wine not only embodies all that is Stellenbosch, but it’s also a wine that would pay homage to our great town. From our first vintage in 2006, the wine known as Stellenbosch Ridge, would comprise a blend of different varietals for every vintage. From the 2009 vintage the decision was made that in the future this wine will only be produced as a Bordeaux blend and with the onset of the 2013 vintage whereby a white wine is added to the line up and it has officially became known as The Stellenbosch Reserve.
Wines on offer:
- The Stellenbosch Reserve Merlot
- The Stellenbosch Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The Stellenbosch Reserve Merlot
The Kweekskool is somewhat regal in the great 2017 vintage. It has a pitch black core and purple edge. Notes of spear mint and vanilla waft over lush red berry fruit and hints of capsicum. The palate is intense and powerful, nicely integrated with creamy oak. Waves of juicy fruit are wound together by a fresh acidity and satin-soft tannins. Black berries and a hint of dried coriander line the sweetly fruited, delectable finish. Irresistible now, it has the depth and concentration for at least 5 years further aging.
The Stellenbosch Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2017 Ou Hoogebou Cabernet Sauvignon may be the finest vintage yet! Medium to fullbodied, it has a crimson edge and dark core. Blue and black fruits lead from the nose onto the palate, delivering classic notes of pencil shavings and wet earth. It offers a superbly balanced acidity, fine tannins and exotic depth. Purity and poise are the descriptors in 2017, showing that the vintage is one of real pedigree and fine character. Tightly sprung and balanced by classy oak, it will mature well over the next decade
